Personality:
Ran is by definition an asshole. He loves to be mean, kick people in the ass while they're down and often uses most men and women to his own advantage. He's the kind of free spirit that doesn't seem like he would ever settle down. He constantly seems to get on people's nerves and does so on purpose. Blatantly, he disregards what most people say is good and righteous and throws it out the window to get laid instead. He seems like the kind of douchebag most women would complain about. Often seen with a woman on each arm, the cheesy charm he often puts on is false and created only to get what he wants. Though he seems to show no regrets in his actions, there are a few people he takes a 'liking' to and will treat them like a friend should. For his friends Ran would do nearly anything for his friends.

Ran is type of guy that makes everything seem like it's a pain in his ass. He hates to work, hates to do anything more than party, drink and flirt. He's oddly passionate about flirting and once he puts his sight on a person, he does not back down so easily. He's very demanding and quite often seen as the lazy asshole who does nothing or the bossy jerk who doesn't know what he talks about. Ran is a bit of a loner. Due to his pride, he doesn’t like to accept help from anyone and in times he will get mad if someone offers him help. As if feeling insulted. His ego is as large as some might say possible as he sees himself as perfect at times and does not need to be assisted. Nevertheless, in his eyes, Ran is always right. When he makes a wrong decision, it's often left as unaddressed and he will seem as if it never happened. He pushes on, not looking back on the failure.

Ran is incredibly defensive. When people are against him, he doesn't hesitate to attack or say something rather asinine. He's crude, rude and lewd and not normally the guy people are friends with. In fact he's a guy who seems to be avoided by most men though his odd charm attracts the oddest of friends. He's a quick-tempered man and it's easy to get on his bad side. It is likely for Ran to throw something like tantrums when he doesn't get his way.

Lazy and the definition of is in his very make up. Ran is a lackadaisical man who is often unmotivated to do anything he should. Though he will get his work done, he tends to procrastinate for hours un-end before he even touches his stacks of paperwork. Often found playing hookie, he is a man who dodges responsibility. Due to incidents with his little brother, Ran is easily annoyed by little kids. He gets frustrated as he has no patience and refuses to deal with them. Because of such, Ran takes extra precautions just to make sure he can avoid children. Even though he has issues with his little brother, Ran will always make time for Tas (his younger brother). Though he may seem annoyed about it, he actually loves his little brother. He's not very good at showing his affection for the people he cares about. SO essentially, he bullies the people he likes by teasing them or making them seem like a hassle.

Ran is a person who keeps his real feelings to himself. He doesn't talk much about himself and normally pursues more about his potential fling than he ever speaks of himself. Alone, Ran shows his more sensitive side, like the fact he likes to write poetry and is very upset by the fact he can't cook. As well, his hobby or one of them is that he gardens.

Turtles: He has a soft spot for turtles. Not even he is quite sure why he finds them so cute.
Peanut Butter: It tastes amazing! Peanut butter on bread! Or Chicken! Anything with peanut butter!
Gardening: As much as he would hate to admit it.. Ran loves flowers. The way they look and smell, plus they're good for picking up the ladies.

General Appearance:
Eyes a dark reddish brown color, Ran is quite a sight. Ran has hair long and black. The bangs and upper half of his hair is rather choppy and sort of messy. His bangs fall all over the left side of his face, covering the tattoo that curls up around his left eye. The dark black tattoo as well designs the left side of his torso and his right arm, swirling and twisting all the way down to the outer of his left thigh. His skin is pale. Almost always his hair is pulled back in a ponytail that rests on his shoulder. Or he has his hair cut short. An oriental piece keeps his hair pinned with a golden stick and circles on either side. The red hair piece as well having golden and scarlet designs upon it. Around his neck sits a red collar trimmed and gold with a sort of tassel hanging off in the middle, leading to his defined collarbone.

His body is well-toned and built strong, obviously he works out, but not over powering so it leaves him looking as a strong young man. Over his left shoulder is the three scars from the bear assault when he was younger as well as the one that sits cheek to cheek over his nose. His stomach is bandaged with a large red top over his arms and most of his torso. It sort of clings and leaves his pecs unhidden. A blade is sheathed to his back with an intricate belt and red tassels upon it to match. On his legs he wears baggy red pants that cut off below the knees and are tied up with a black belt to hug around his waist. Traditional samurai sandals compliment his feet with no tabi socks beneath, just his bare toes.

History:

Ran was born a long time ago, to a rather wealthy family. Being the oldest, he was naturally the only heir to be chosen. However, with wealth, comes ignorance. His earlier years were spent dedicated to books and socializing, but the word 'freedom' did not exist. He was in a world with his arms constantly bound tight. What he could eat, what he could even smell was all balanced and weighed on a scale. The words he said had to be precise and perfect, not a strand of hair was allowed out of place and what time he didn't spend with his studies was spent with 'sophisticated activities' and politics. What was 'fun'? It didn't exist in his world. He didn't have time for real friends and really all he had was later, his younger brother, Tas.

Unfortunately, Tas was born 'special'. Ranmaru was a genius compared to his little brother. Though his little brother could recite new languages as if they were all his primary language, Ranmaru could make complete sentences and think complete thoughts. Tas was borderline mentally retarded, and the family was appalled by this. People assumed Ranmaru would have been upset, but the young boy didn't mind. Despite how he seemed, Ran would always watch out for his little brother and though at times Tas was a 'pest', it didn't stop Ran from helping the younger boy as much as he could.

Eventually, Ranmaru entered his rebellious phase. The nights began with the casual 'no' and blew out to the whole skipping out of his room after midnight. Eventually his parents gave him up as a lost cause and the young boy was released from the family. A neighbor boy about the same age, had a mother who was more than willing to watch over Ran.

The woman, though incredibly strange, was quite kind-hearted and sweet. She took care of Ran as if he was her own. Ran and Kaede became best friends (though there was the constant question on why Kaede had a girl's name). They became inseparable. Despite the growing differences, Ranmaru was quite kind to Kaede. The younger friend could see a side of Ran that no one ever did. Underneath the exterior of an asshole was a gentler asshole who actually enjoyed the company of others and more than just the luxury of women. In fact, they both took interest in magic at about the same time. However, their magics were completely different. Though Ran knew of Kaede's magic way longer than vice-versa. Ran started when he was younger and he fell upon a key. This key gave him an odd feeling, and when he brought it to his adopted mother, she took a deep breath and explained the world of Celestial Beings.

Dazed by such an intriguing idea, Ran thrust himself into studying about the magic. The first key was the key of Vulpecula; the fox. Of course, the little animal didn't do much but follow Ran around and hiccup blue fire once in a while, since Ran didn't have a lot of magical energy yet. It was a low-level summon and more often than not, the fox was sleeping. However, it piqued his interest further into finding more of the summons and other likes of his. In the secret of the basement, he spent hours, trying to practice his magic, even pushing his little fox, though he couldn't do much. It was fascinating and it didn't take long for Ran to figure out this would be his passion.

Over the years, he collected keys and worked to become even stronger. He collected more of his own 'spells' and actually felt connected to his spirits. A time came where he had to join a guild. Unsure of what one he really wanted, he found a guild that was rather 'neutral'. Bloddy Heart was his new home. He bid farewell to his friends and 'family' and off Ranmaru went into the unknown world of Guilds. It was a rather tough battle at first, trying to get accepted not only by members and even the area. Lucky enough, his uncle had been the guildmaster. Naturally, Ranmaru hadn't realized this at first.

Toshio was an odd man who viewed everything as neutral, even the guild itself. He was both good and bad, and he made sure everyone knew they too were nneutral. Though most guilds found it to be weak and boring, they were a relatively happy guild. They got their jobs done most of the time, and though it was small and pretty weak, they were moving up, slowly but surely. Ran learned a lot from his uncle. After being in his guild for over a ten years, he had moved his way up in the ranks. From a basic E-rank newbie, all the way to first class S-rank.

As he grew older (29), Ran found himself and Kaede fighting quite often. Kaede Ran looked too feminine to be a real man. Ran explained he always had more women than Kaede. It bouts of magical rage, Kaede ended up cursing Kaede. At first, Ran didn't know it. The day began like any other, he woke up and went to the bathroom for a shower. That's when things went horribly wrong. He found he was stuck in the body of a woman! The following hours were full of panic and paranoia. Ran locked himself into his room, in hopes no one would find out that dark secret. It worked, and to his relief, the magic faded away the next morning. Weird coincidence or dream? He believed it to be a dream and continued out the next couple weeks with ease. Unfortunately it happened again. Kaede brought up the question to Ran, about whether he felt extremely feminine yet, but Ran brushed it off. His friend was just as much as an asshole as he was! Of course Ran hadn't had time to cure the curse, since he hadn't KNOWN he was cursed. So twice a month, he was doomed to be a woman for 24 hours. He found himself dealing with it.

It was about a year later (if that) that his uncle was critically injured while on the job. No one knew why, but as he laid dying, he told those gathered, that his successor would naturally be Ran. No one argued it, in fact, Ran was probably one of the oldest members of the guild. He took up his role of leadership, gaining even more strength for his people. Not many were sure of his magic (most having only seen his secondary magic). However, he had aspirations and pride unlike most Wizards that were seen. In his hand, he held the strangest black key.. A key not even he could figure out.. yet.
