Nice day to fish [Mission Open]

Tempest was walking down the street of Hargeon town. “What a great weather”, he thought to himself. Though the sky wasn’t clear, with every now and then a cloud hanging in the sky, the warmth of the sun felt nice and there wasn’t that much wind either, considering he was close to the sea. Tempest was wondering what to do next. He had been asking around for information regarding Askura, however couldn’t get any useful information at all. Though a bit disappointed, he didn’t let it get too much to him, knowing this was going to be though. Knowing he probably wouldn’t be able to get the information he needed he decided to see if he could help other people around town. It was in Tempest’s nature to help other out. He then came a across a post sign. People could leave a note requesting all kinds of things. Tempest picked one at random and looked at decided he the person named Rielly.

Tempest started looking for the client mentioned on the note. He picked back up the note he took and looked over it again in more detail. It seems the client is a fisherman who is in need of some company. The request seems simple and knowing he could help this way made Tempest a little happier inside. What kind of bugged Tempest was the small map drawn on the note. It was terribly drawn and didn’t make any sense. After strolling around trying to figure out where the meeting point was Tempest simply decided to ask people about it.

“Excuse me, Can you please tell me where I can find a person named Rielly”, Tempest asked a few people he came across. They all giggled a bit and agreed the doodle made did look terrible, as if they recognized a drawing like that. They then pointed towards the location Tempest needed to go. Tempest moved towards the directed location and arrived at, what it looked like a warehouse. He knocked on the large door and after waiting a few seconds he slowly opened the door….

Tempest noticed a man sitting close to center of the warehouse. The warehouse looks awfully empty. Every now and then a pile of logs is neatly stacked a placed close to the wall. Also a few barrels are randomly placed in the back. Tempest slowly enters as he watches the surroundings carefully before turning his gaze back to man again. He immediately notices a scent. “Maybe it was fish”, he thought to himself, although it smelled a little awkward for it to be fish. Tempest removed the smell from his thought and kindly greeted the man. “Excuse me sir, my name is Tempest”, he said and made a small bow. The man faced Tempest with his back so he couldn’t see him. The man was wearing a sleeveless shirt with overall pants. He looked like he was in late twenties. He seemed busy with a giant bag which was in front of him. Next to his was a suitcase which seemed to be for fishing supplies...

The man turned his head around in response to Tempest’s voice. A bright face meets Tempest as he greets back. “Well hello there lad, how can I help you”, he says. Tempest was a little taken back by his response. He didn’t quite expected to be called a lad, considering the names he used to hear back in the militia. He then takes out the request note out in the open, while walking closer to the man. “Are you Rielly sir”, he asked as he showed the man the note he took from the request board. Recognizing the note the man’s eyes lit up as he smiles. “Great timing, I was about to get ready”, he says and gets up to his feet. Although he didn’t answer his question Tempest realized it was safe to assume he had the right person. Rielly gives Tempest the giant bag he was busy with. “Can you please take this to the sea bank, I need to get some stuff and then I’ll meet you there”, he says, hesitates a bit and continues, “Tempest was it, right?” He stood still for a few moments with a confused look on his face and barged out the warehouse without waiting for an answer.

Being left behind with a bag Tempest looks as he sees the man, who seemed to Rielly barged out the warehouse. Tempest was a little confused about what happened but paid no real mind to it since it seemed he was more than happy. The bag, Tempest was handed was surprisingly heavy and made Tempest really curious to it content. Knowing it was rude to check it, Tempest simply walked out of the warehouse as he moved to the sea bank Rielly was referring to. Tempest walked at a slower place, since the giant bag blocked most of Tempest’s vision. He noticed that even though he left the warehouse the smell didn’t seem to leave. It seemed rather impossible for the smell to have sunk into Tempest’s clothing in such a small amount of time so it must have been the bag he was carrying. Knowing this made Tempest even more curious. Lucky for him, he may not need to wait that much longer as he approached the sea bank…

He carefully put the bag down. To his surprise Rielly was already there. Rielly, who noticed Tempest, walked over to him. “Thanks a lot lad”, he said while handing over a rod to Tempest. Tempest has never seen one before, let alone used one and hesitantly accepts the rod. The man smiles as he lifts the back and points to one of the docks. Two chairs have been set with the briefcase Tempest saw earlier in between them. The man sits and lets out a cry both of relieve and relaxation. Tempest sits down slightly after him as he curiously looks at Rielly. “Oh”, the man says surprised as he looks at Tempest, “I haven’t introduced myself yet have I… Rielly”, he says while taking out his own rod. “Have you done this before”, he asks he starts to open the bag. Tempest shakes his head in denial as he honestly answers the question. Rielly laughs out hard as he gives a demonstration. Taking a small fish out of the bag, he attaches it to the hook of his rod. “That’s all there is to it and now we wait”, Rielly says after throwing his rod into the water.

Tempest looks carefully to what Rielly is doing. After Rielly swung his rod, the line with the bait landed not too far away from shore. The fish which was attached to it disappeared into the ocean water while a clear visible white ball was still floating on the surface. Tempest looked over his own rod seeing similar components on his as well. Tempest was quick at adaption and looked in the bag for small fishes. He noticed the bag didn’t only contain fishes. He could count two handfuls as under need it a layer of branches and logs was places. This layer of wood made it seem as if there was more inside the bag but Tempest let it pass for now and grabbed one of the fishes. Hooking it up, he too threw his fishing line into the ocean. Unsure where to throw he made sure to keep some distance between his and that of Rielly…

'Monster' :

It didn’t take long before Rielly’s fishing rod starting shaking. Rielly was quick to react as he grabbed his fishing rod with both hands. He stands up, and with a quick and strong pull his fishing line flies out of the ocean. Attached to his hook is a medium sized fish with is splashing violently. Rielly smiles bashfully as he pulls out a smaller sized bag out of the big one and puts his caught fish in it. “See that lad”, he says proudly while preparing for his next catch. Tempest’s smiles back in response with admiration, not answering his question. It didn’t take much more time before his fishing rod was shaking as well. “They sure are biting here aren’t they”, Tempest said as he grabbed his fishing pole with both hands. Tempest then recalled Rielly’s movement, following it he pulled out the line. On the end was the same fish Rielly caught minutes ago. Proud of his first catch, Tempest grabs his caught fish and throws it in the small bag.

“So”, Rielly starts all of sudden after a while of silence, “Why is someone like you spending your time fishing with a total stranger?” A little surprised by the sudden question Tempest thinks a bit as he faces Rielly. After looking into Rielly’s eyes, eagerly waiting for an answer, Tempest looks back at his bait drifting in the ocean. “They say that those who are capable of making others happy, are able to gain a share of that happiness”, Tempest says with a softer yet serious voice. His eyes are slightly narrowed as if remembering something. Rielly looks at Tempest, seeing him like that he doesn’t know any response. Tabbing Tempest on his back he breaks down in laughter again. “That’s a great great spirit you have their lad”, he says while absently looking into the vast ocean horizon. “I hope my son turned out similar”, he suddenly says with a softer tone. Though Tempest heard him, he decided not question about it further considering Rielly did the same in his regards.

Hours went by as Tempest and Rielly spend their time fishing. The luck they initially had when they started faded away soon as in those hours Rielly was only able to a total of three fishes. Tempest also managed to catch three. To pass time they talked about all kinds of trivial things, but they mostly enjoyed the warm sun and the gentle breeze. As it was getting dawn Rielly started packing his stuff ready to leave. Tempest felt spend even though he sat most through the day. It felt as one of those missions in which you had to stay alert the entire time, yet didn’t have to do anything. Tempest stood up and stretched a bit after which he offered to help Rielly carry his bag back to his place. Rielly however shook his head with a smile. “No need, I’ll take care of things here lad.” He then reached for his pockets and revealed some jewels. “There you go lad, your reward for a job well done”, he said as he reached out his hand. Tempest looked at the money he was offered and then looked at Rielly. Tempest kindly pushed Rielly back and shook his head smiling. “I don’t need this money”, Tempest said as his face turned more serious. “Just happy to help”, he then continued as he made a small bow. Rielly looked at Tempest confused for a seconds before returning his money back into his pockets. “Goodbye sir”, Tempest said as he saw Rielly grab his stuff. “I hope you will meet your son again someday”, Tempest said, waving him goodbye as he started to leave. Rielly stopped and looked back after hearing that comment. Simply standing there without saying anything he nodded with a smile and left. Tempest watched Rielly until he was out of his sight as he then looked at the descending sun. He nodded as he said to himself, “A job well done!”
